Dear Adventurer,
I invite you to join me on a journey into the Grand Canyon this coming October, “Into the Wild: Grand Canyon, 2017” – a wilderness adventure retreat.
Perhaps you are interested in an outdoor challenge, a personal quest, or a healing journey. Maybe you seek creative inspiration, or simply love the outdoors.
Our itinerary takes us through the sunset radiant golden granite cliffs of Zion National Park and the sunrise glowing redrock spires at Bryce National Park on our approach to the north rim of the Grand Canyon.
As your trail leader, I will provide backcountry hard skill experience, share local lore and Grand Canyon natural history, techniques for wilderness self-care, and nature connection practices like animal tracking and making friction fire. I also take care of the cooking, the permits, and reservations. My commitment is to support your fitness, well-being, gear and safety preparations so you can move more comfortably and confidently on the trail.
We will enjoy daily free time periods, and alternate easy day hikes with point-to-point day treks. We will rest and sleep in lodges, rustic cabins, and in backcountry campgrounds as we travel by foot from one side of the Grand Canyon’s wondrous beauty to the other. Daily Restorative Nature Practice™ sessions will deepen our connection with our personal path and the natural environment.
The environment in the southwest in the autumn is astonishing. The high country foliage is turning ruby and amber with occasional frosty mornings, while deep in the immense architecture of the Grand Canyon it is balmy, luminous, and the single, jagged-edged turquoise stained glass skylight of the great stone cathedral looms a mile above, as if calling attention to what is highest within oneself.
Please contact me with any and all questions or concerns. If you cannot make it this year, but next year is a possibility please let me know. Feel free to pass this invitation on to others. You may be one of those people rewarded with a once-in-a-lifetime experience you never thought you were ready for.
With Blessings From the Trail,
Lonner Holden
